The 18th century room houses have a morphological and thematic section about saltcellars and some egg-cups.
The problem of the salt was important for Umbrian people, in fact, in XVI century, Pope levied the salt tax; the salt cellars of our collection underline the importance to preserve the salt in Umbria.
The works show us particular forms and decorations with reminiscent to the Grotesque style such as the pieces realized in the particular shapes of a temple and a dragon.
Then, the early 18th century production seems to follow the style of 17th century.
Then, the production, above all in middle part of the century, shows a decadent quality in style and decorations; the potters try to imitate China porcelains.
The pieces are depicted with blue decorations on the white surface of the object; the most famous patterns are the so called “lambriques” and bean motifs.
