Predisposed masses of clay will be prepared by the potter from fresh clay and formed into balls, ready for use with a lathe.

The potter places the clay ball onto the pottery wheel which rotates at high and low velocity. He then works the clay advancing towards the center. He works on making an opening, then lifting up (pull up) the sides until it achieves the desired form; which is also obtained when using specific instruments.
Subsequentially, the vase is partially dried, in order for it to be worked again on the pottery wheel.

The finishing touches are made with a lathe, or with the assistance of special utensils. These will smooth the surface of the object and take off the excess clay.
Right after this, you may add: nozzles, handles, or decorations that are glued on using clay liquid. After the modelling is finished; the pots are left to dry for a few days.
